Spending Tracks Reconfiguration - runtime v9431

3 years ago
Rejected

Greetings everyone!

After discussing these changes with many people in the ecosystem, I have finally prepared a referendum that will reconfigure Kusama's runtime accordingly. This referendum will change the following parameters in the spending tracks:

TrackSpend LimitMax DecidingMin ApprovalPreparation PeriodConfirmation PeriodDecision Period
Small TipperNo Change200 -> 6No Change1 mins -> 3 hrsNo ChangeNo Change
Big TipperNo Change100 -> 3No Change10 mins -> 6 hrsNo ChangeNo Change
Small Spender333 KSM -> 100 KSM50 -> 7No Change4 hrs -> 24 hrsNo ChangeNo Change
Medium Spender3,333 KSM -> 1,250 KSM50 -> 2No Change4 hrs -> 24 hrsNo ChangeNo Change
Big Spender33,333 KSM -> 2,500 KSM50 -> 150% -> 66%4 hrs -> 24 hrs48 hrs -> 24 hrsNo Change
TreasurerNo ChangeNo Change50% -> 66%2 hrs -> 48 hrs3 hrs -> 48 hrs14 days -> 28 days

For now, the preimage is unnoted. However you can verify the hash by using srtool v0.11.0. The call is:

utility.withWeight(
  system.setCode(
    <adam-spending-reconfig wasm blob>
    ),
  1000000000000,
  10000000
)

You can find the summary of changes on Github here.

Treasury reconfiguration discussions here and here.

I made a video going through the whole process of this referendum but it got removed from Youtube due to copyright strikes on the music in the background. I uploaded it to Twitter though so hopefully it will stay up there.

srtool output:

✨ Your Substrate WASM Runtime is ready! ✨

Hi Adam, I voted Aye to support the work put into it. However, even if it passes, I don't think it will have any impact as the proposal's timing is not great with the current state of the Kusama OpenGov. Good luck!
